Annual Engagement Australia International Conference

Our annual conference provides an opportunity for practitioners and academics to showcase their current research and engagement practices, learn from national and international experts in the field, and most importantly join a dialogue around engagement in higher education. With a variety of forums on offer including workshops, roundtables, research presentations, world cafe, Q & A sessions, a welcome reception and conference dinner, there are many ways to network and connect. Visiting Scholar & Experts Program

In the field of University Engagement, EA seeks to help our members learn from engagement experiences, theories and practices from other parts of the world as well as through exchanging good practice within Australia. This program helps ensure an exchange of knowledge about theories, policies and practices; encourage further commitment to university engagement through national and international dialogue; global promotion of Australian higher education sector community engagement practices with a special emphasis on the work of EA member universities. Further information can be found here

Engage at Lunch

An opportunity to join with your peers from EA member universities for a bite sized portion of engagement in higher education. This new series of free webinars will profile the diversity of community engaged scholarship and practice being undertaken in universities across Australia. Academic Resources

With the launch of the new Engagement Australia website members will have ready access to collated resources from Australia and around the world. This will include journal articles, books, position papers, conference proceedings, toolkits, videos, event information as well as other relevant printed and audio material. Australasian Journal of University-Community Engagement (2006-present)

Our e-journal provides an important forum for scholarly comment on and review of university engagement within and between the higher education, private, public and community-based sectors. Published bi-annually, the journal aims to demonstrate the diversity of activity in the sector including social responsiveness in higher education, engaged education and research, collaborative partnerships and higher education post Bradley. National & International Networking

PVCs/Executives of Engagement Network

Engagement Australia convenes an annual meeting of the PVCs & Executives of Engagement at the annual Universities Australia conference.  This network will encourage participants to explore the tensions impacting on the development and delivery of strong, effective and relevant engagement at their institution. This on-going interaction will be instructive for EA and contribute to the development of new approaches for supporting and developing effective engagement strategies.

National Board Meetings in Member locations 

The Engagement Australia Board meets quarterly in many of the member locations across Australia. To stay connected to our member Universities the Board will host various networking events to bring local academics and practitioners together. These events will provide updates on the current climate of engagement in Australia, introduce new partners, share resources and also provide opportunity for members to share their engagement experiences and practice.


Engagement Australia has partnered with many national and international organisations specialising in Engagement such as Talloires, Asia Engage, ACEN, and Volunteering Queensland to keep member universities informed on current scholarship, trends and practices in engagement globally.
